Your First Visit
Your first visit, or initial consultation, gives the chiropractor the opportunity to fully investigate your condition and to explain the findings to you and what they mean to your well being.
The first step is to take a full history of your complaint and general health. For the second step, the chiropractor will conduct an orthopaedic and neurological examination. Lastly, after testing your condition, the chiropractor will review the findings with you and will explain the best course of treatment.
Type and Duration of Treatment
Chiropractic treatment is focused on restoring proper motion and alignment to the spine and other joints to relieve any irritation of neighbouring nerves. This works to restore the normal movement of the joint, relax muscle spasm, and relieve strain on ligaments resulting in a better state of health.
Chiropractic adjustments are generally gentle, quick impulses applied to a joint to restore proper motion and alignment. There are many ways to adjust the spine and the most appropriate method will be chosen for each patient. There are some very gentle techniques, which require very little pressure, that can be used for infants and the elderly. |
